Title: Administrative Intern Duty Station: New York, USA Duration: 3 months Contract Type: Internship Earliest Hire Date: 01 August 2024 Target End Date: 31 October 2024 The intern reports to the New York Office Senior Executive Assistant and will assist in preparing logistical and administrative formalities for the UN General Assembly High Level Week in September 2024. The intern will help coordinate high‑level side events, roundtable discussions, and other collaborations at UN headquarters and venues in NYC, assisting with event checklists, vendor procurement, and guest support. Responsibilities include creating schedules for visitors, providing on‑site support, conducting post‑event evaluations, and supporting the Senior Executive Assistant in drafting talking points, briefing kits, and scheduling missions. Assist in planning and coordination for the Summit of the Future and UN General Assembly High Level Week, including scheduling and administrative support. Create and maintain schedules for incoming visitors, ensuring all administrative tasks are completed before and during the mission. Provide on‑site support during meetings and side events, including setup, registration, and troubleshooting. Conduct post‑event evaluations to assess success and identify improvements. Minimum Qualifications: Recent graduate (completed studies within two years) or current graduate/undergraduate student at an accredited university or higher education facility (IAU/UNESCO). At least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to UNHCR work. Desirable Qualifications: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure. Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams. Conditions: Full‑time role expecting 40 hours per week. Interns receive an allowance to help cover food, local transportation, and living expenses. Interns must arrange and provide proof of medical insurance covering the internship period; UNHCR does not cover medical costs or evacuation. This position doesn’t require a functional clearance.
