Schedule : 980 hours per year Title : Technical Writer Location : Independence, MO Salary : $80,300 - $102,300 Job Description The Technical Writer will create, revise, and maintain clear, accurate, and user‑friendly documentation that communicates complex technical information to developers, end‑users, and stakeholders. The role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts, exceptional communication skills, and collaboration across teams to ensure documentation aligns with product updates and user needs. Essential Job Functions Collaborate with internal teams across programs to identify and address documentation needs, ensuring alignment with product and system updates. Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive documentation plan, including gathering and analyzing technical and product information. Independently create, review, revise, and maintain clear documentation for both technical and non‑technical users, ensuring accuracy and usability. Engage with peers and stakeholders to identify priorities of work and manage priorities for program growth. Plan, schedule, and track documentation tasks to meet product release dates and client deliverables, while maintaining a well‑organized documentation library. Publish and maintain standardized templates for documentation, providing guidance to developers and community members to ensure consistency and quality. Minimum Requirements Must meet one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related discipline with 1+ years’ relevant experience. High School Diploma with 5+ years relevant experience. Proven ability to create clear and effective documentation for audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience working in a fast‑paced agile environment, demonstrating proactive and strategic problem‑solving skills. This position requires a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance; the applicant must be able to attain and maintain this clearance. Location‑Specific Requirements Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License. Required to pass employee possessor vetting per U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Must be authorized to access ITAR controlled technical data per export license requirements. Must be a U.S. citizen; non‑citizens are ineligible for on‑site access.
